This role will bring distinct strategic leadership and focus to our place shaping agenda, ensuring high quality development and spatial planning - delivering on the council’s ambitions to deliver physical, economic and social development on a sustainable basis.
This is a highly visible role with a strong emphasis on collaborative working. Successful engagement with partners, residents and other stakeholders will be vital to success. You’ll be a central figure in leading our work on the Local Plan, along with managing the relationships between potential delivery partners, consultants, members, landowners and the wider organisation. In turn you will oversee operational performance to ensure that individual teams are aligned to our overall strategic vision for Winchester. All of this work and services council wide will be influenced by your leadership of our climate change commitment.
It’s a role that demands a highly developed and versatile skill set. You should be able to demonstrate a track record in strategic place shaping and delivering major regeneration programmes and assure us that you can make the connections between strategic ambitions and delivery on the ground. Commercially astute, you’ll be comfortable negotiating and influencing to secure the best outcomes for the Winchester district along with truly listening to our communities. And it’s essential that you can demonstrate the personal presence and professional credibility to quickly win confidence and trust with a range of stakeholders.
